The challenge
Different tasks.
Shared access.
Contractors need access to the service tunnels beneath the hospital grounds for a range of works:
- Inspections.
- Cable installations.
- Valve replacements and other works.
Each contractor has its own task and working methods. The confined space entry arrangements need to cover them all: controlled access, a record of everyone in the spaces, checked equipment and a coordinated emergency response.
How we help
Coordinated entry.
Dedicated support.
Redline provides a confined space entry controller and a three-person standby rescue team, supported by safety equipment and overarching entry arrangements.
Entry control and records
Our controller manages contractor entry and maintains the log of everyone entering and leaving the spaces. The rescue team also assists with entry control.
Daily equipment readiness
We supply and check the confined space safety equipment each morning and charge it overnight. Daily gas detector bump tests verify that sensors and alarms respond to test gas.
Standby rescue provision
A three-person confined space rescue team stands ready to respond, with emergency arrangements established for the entry works.
Defined planning responsibilities
Redline provides the overarching risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) and emergency arrangements for confined space entry. Each contractor provides the RAMS for its own task.
The client advantage
Less coordination.
Clear responsibilities.
One coordinated approach to confined space entry.
The client has a dedicated team managing the shared confined space entry requirements across multiple contractors. Entry control, equipment readiness and standby rescue are brought together under Redline’s arrangements.
This reduces the coordination required from the client while contractors focus on their inspections, installations and repairs, supported by a common approach to confined space entry.
